Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Malena grew up surrounded by tango.
She sang the title role in Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires with Opera Naples in Florida and Opera Hispanica in New York City.
She performed as a tango singer with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and in venues such as Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Embassy of Argentina in Washington, DC and the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute in New York City.
Ms. Dayen is the lead singer with New Aires Tango, an ensemble that performs contemporary arrangements of tangos and boleros since 2010.
In April 2019 starred and directed an immersive, site specific and interactive production of María de Buenos Aires with Bare Opera in New York City
